With March being the month of Maths (and a mouthful), there are many days and ways to celebrate your favourite subject! However, you might be struggling with ideas and may not know how. We have found dates to put in your diary and possible ways to celebrate them!
Tuesday March 14th 2023 – National Pi Day
You might not be aware that March 14th is National Pi Day. The mathematical equation is specifically celebrated on March 14th (3/14) every year. If you want to get technical, this is at 6 pm. It is also fine if you want to start celebrating straight away! Whilst most people only know pi as 3.14, it seems to go on forever. You can enjoy a piece of the Pi by doing the following:
Make Pi paper plates.
Bake or decorate pies with your children.
Post something on Twitter to do with Pi using #NationalPiDay.
Tuesday March 14th 2023 – International Day of Mathematics
Not to be confused with World Maths Day, International Day of Mathematics is celebrated worldwide because the date is 3/14, which is the first few digits of Pi. The day focuses on a specific theme relating to Maths and its place in the world. The theme for International Day of Mathematics 2023 is ‘Mathematics for Everyone.’
Here are some ways you and your children can be inclusive in celebrating International Day of Mathematics this year:
Have your child invite a friend over to play Maths-based games.

Have a talk to your child about how and why Maths can include everyone.
Thursday, March 23rd 2023 – World Maths Day
World Maths Day is arguably the most recognised Maths-based day. Why? You are celebrating all things Maths, of course! From easy sums to complex equations, Maths deserves praise because of how it has changed the world. Without Mathematics, you would not be reading this article right now! Think about that. You can celebrate World Maths Day with your children by doing the following:
Play the Countdown numbers game with your family.
Talk with the family about what your lucky number is.
